Bios

• Shannon Lightbody

  DVM

  A graduate of Tufts University, Dr. Shannon Lightbody has been the Medical Director at VCA Everett since 2006 and has been a veterinarian here since 2001. Dr. Lightbody has been with VCA Everett going back to her days as a technician in the late 1990s. She has a focus on preventative medicine and routine surgery. Dr. Lightbody attends continuing education and veterinary conferences to make sure she is providing the best medicine possible to her patients. She lives at home with her husband, 3 daughters, and a very high-energy Boxer named Kiara. She enjoys Tae Kwon Do, skiing, and outdoor activities in her free time.

• Richelle Berard

  DVM

  Dr. Berard is a 2002 graduate of the Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. She has been in practice at VCA Everett since 2009. In addition to caring for dogs and cats, Dr. Berard has a special interest in exotic pets and cares for small mammals, reptiles and amphibians. In the spring of 2012, Dr. Berard travelled to Florida to complete an intensive training series in veterinary dentistry through the North American Veterinary Conference. She is continuously keeping abreast of the latest practices and technologies in veterinary medicine. She lives locally with her husband, son, and cat named Monkey. When she is not working she enjoys staying active with outdoor activities.

• John Defanti

  DVM

  Dr. Defanti has been with VCA Everett since 2008. Dr. D graduated Oklahoma State University in 1991 and has been a veterinarian for over 20 years. Besides routine care for our patients, he has an interest in surgery and performs more advanced soft tissue procedures. He lives at home with his wife, and Buffy-Lou a greyhound, Bee, Toasty, and Nelson, all domestic shorthair cats, as well as several chickens. He enjoys music, good food, reading, and riding his Harley-Davidson.

• Josh Gidlewski

  DVM

  Dr. Josh Gidlewski is a travelling specialist who offers cardiac and abdominal ultrasounds for our patients. In the event that your pet requires one of these advanced diagnostic imaging techniques, our veterinarians will arrange for him to visit our hospital.
